This week I’ve been drawing more inspiration from another perfect Internet quote. To give you a back story on why this one struck a chord so deeply, I feel I need to divulge a little bit of personal information.
Earlier this summer, I ended a five year relationship after discovering some disheartening truth about my boyfriend’s behavior. Since then, I’ve been spending a lot of time alone and throwing myself into what I love like photography, art and design. As a result, I’ve been feeling more myself than I have in a very long time.
I’ve realized that there’s so much pressure from society to find one’s soulmate and fall in love that often times people forget to focus on themselves, or they settle for someone who may not necessarily be their perfect match. We spend so much time thinking that the most important thing in life is to find love that we lose ourselves in it and often times get hurt along the way. Most importantly, we forget, that more than anything else, in order to be truly happy, we must first learn to love ourselves.
All of these thoughts have been crossing my mind for the past few months, yet I didn’t know how to fully voice them until I found this passage on Pinterest. I read this and it made my soul happy:
I hope that inspires some of you. Thank you for always inspiring me with your constant love and support.
Oh yeah, and don’t forget to check out the amazing dress I’m wearing by Arnhem (because I’m obsessed).
