I recently stumbled across a line that stole my heart. At first glance their website offers simple yet beautiful garments, but with a closer look Gaia Conceptions offers so much more. I was lucky enough to snag two pieces from their handmade collection, both of which I know I will treasure forever and ever. As soon as I discovered this line I knew I had to write a serious blog post about them because of their wonderful mission and intent with design.
Read on to fall in love with Gaia Conceptions like I have…
If those photos don’t make you love Gaia, then their history definitely will…
Gaia was founded in 2003 by Andrea Crouse. It began as a small company, mostly festival based, that focused on hand dying and sewing garments. What I adore most about this line is their focus on sustainability and remaining true to using organic materials. The entire mission of this company revolves around being fair, ethical and loving, not just towards the earth and all its resources, but towards their customers and employees as well.
Their designs are all made to order and customizable, which struck a chord with me for two reasons. One, because Wild & Free Jewelry operates in this way and it’s rare that I ever run across a company that does the same thing. And two, because sometimes when I go shopping I feel like a giant girl trying to fit into children’s clothes because I’m tall and nothing ever fits me! Gaia solved this problem because they can customize sizing and length for you when you order via their website (ummmm YES PLEASE!). You can also choose dye color and the type of fabric. A little birdie also told me that they’re releasing two new fabrics for their Fall collection which includes an organic lace knit and organic thermal knit.
Brands like this are the reason I started getting into blogging so whenever I get the chance to share another I am all for it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my gushy love story and I hope you all take a moment to check out the wonderful world of Gaia.
