Continuing my Thread Caravan diaries with a short glimpse at our wonderful home for the first two nights, Lake Atitlán.

The shores of this magnificent lake stretch about 50 square miles and all along the water’s edge are gorgeous jungle homes. The house we stayed in, Casa Colibrí, was incredibly stunning with white walls, a small floral garden and colorful interior decorating. The first evening I watched the sunset while sitting on our private dock and admiring the volcano in the distance.

Our last morning at Lake Atitlán I forced myself to wake bright and early to watch the sunrise. These next few moments are among my favorites from my time in Guatemala….

As I rolled over in bed, I noticed my entire bedroom window illuminated in soft pink hues. I’m sure by now, many of you already know that sunsets and sunrises make me SO HAPPY! The instant I noticed the pink clouds through the window I hopped out of bed and practically ran outside.

When I opened my bedroom door, the entire sky and glimmering water of the lake radiated pink and lavender. Then, I noticed, beaming from the nearby volcano, a RAINBOW! I screamed out loud from excitement and ran back inside to grab my camera, capturing this dream of a moment just moments before the sun rose completely and the sight faded into the light of day.

I still remember this vision perfectly. My heart feels full when I think about it.
