☆☾ It’s officially August which means only a couple weeks until my next festival {Oregon Eclipse}! In the spirit of daydreaming about my upcoming adventure, I put together this boho festival inspired outfit with clothing from Liberated Heart and a new set of Wild & Free Jewelry butterfly hair clips. These butterfly clips are my go to accessory for festivals as they’re lightweight and allow for comfortable all day (and night) dancing. Plus, they always make me feel like a real life fairy and I am all for fantasy feels any day of the week.

In addition to playing fairy, I was really feelin’ the psychedelic world of Liberated Heart, so I decided to edit a few photos with butterfly graphics. All the butterfly artwork in this post I purchased off of Etsy via Frou Frou Craft.  So perfect right?!

If you don’t know Liberated Heart yet, take a peek at their website HERE. It’s a wonderland of festival goodness.

thoughts & day dreams

I’ve decided to add a new section to the blog titled “thoughts & daydreams” where I can share with you the little things that inspire, motivate and intrigue me on a daily basis. I often have a hard time creating transitions into these topics after discussing all the amazing brands I share in each post. This way we can get straight to the point and I won’t feel like I’m causing too much of a jump in narrative.

Yay for new ideas!!!

Welcome to my thoughts and daydreams.

This week started off with a heavy workload, so my headspace feels clouded. I nearly always feel like I’m juggling ten jobs throughout the day and more often then not, I don’t take a break amidst the scattered tasks. A friend of mine mentioned the importance of remembering to take breaks, even if it’s for ten minutes at multiple times throughout the day and I finally started to take his word for it and practice this habit.

Yesterday I forced myself to stop working in the late afternoon and took a mini break at the beach. Simply taking a moment to listen to the waves and feel the sun on my skin felt like a major reset.

For as long as I’ve pursued Wild & Free Jewelry, I’ve been a complete workaholic. It’s hard for me to remember a stretch of time when I didn’t work from when I woke up until when I went to bed. Even on “vacation” I find a way to turn something into work.

I think when I chose to pursue my creative passion, I ignited a nearly insatiable drive to always gravitate back to creating and dreaming. Whether it’s thinking of new designs, planning a shoot or connecting with new brands, I find it really difficult to step away (even if only for ten minutes).

What I’ve come to realize is that breaks are a necessary part of the creative process. Breaks away from technology and in nature I’ve found to work the best. A simple step into the backyard also does the trick (even though it’s not nearly as pretty as the beach).

As a society, it seems we’re accustomed to a perceived necessity to always feel like we’re doing “something”. Even in public it’s as if no one is fully present because nearly everyone is on their phones (I’m SUPER guilty of this sometimes too). Whether walking down the street, standing in line, or even at meals with others, we’re constantly attached to a screen.

My job relies heavily on life within screens and as a result I feel my mental state is in a constant information seeking frenzy.  Which, consequently, makes it difficult to take a REAL break.

The reason I bring this up is, it’s SO essential to step back from screens and appreciate life in the tangible world. No matter your occupation I urge you to practice this habit. We can practice it together and see how our mental state beings to change.
